Why this is a scam

"Working abroad" is scaffolding. It explains the time zone gaps, the missed calls, the postponed visits, and the strange hours. Oil rigs, mining sites, UN contracts, and merchant ships are the favorites because they sound isolated and hard to verify.

The job also pre-loads the finale. A man about to receive a huge contract payout is the perfect person to have a sudden cash flow problem: customs fees on equipment, a broken excavator, a payment held by a foreign bank. The payout is always one fee away.

Real overseas workers video call from rigs, ships, and camps every day. Modern remote sites have internet precisely because workers demand it.

Red flags checklist

• A job that conveniently forbids visits, calls, or verification.

• A big payout coming "at the end of the contract".

• Sudden work emergencies only your money can solve.

• Poor-internet excuses that never once break for a real video call.

• They know your daily life in detail; you cannot verify one detail of theirs.

The manipulation tactic

This is unverifiability by design. The exotic job makes checking feel impossible, so you take the story on faith.

What to do, and what not to do

• Treat "no video call for months" as a decision, not a circumstance.

• Ask the name of the company and site, and search it.

• Never pay a work expense for someone else; real employers pay their own.

• Do not wait out the contract; the contract end date always moves.

• Reverse image search photos; rig and ship photos are stock favorites.
