Flggd Scam School · Investment & Trading Scams · Lesson 8 of 19

Someone is offering you a pre launch insider investment tip; buy before the public can, sell after the price jumps. Two problems: it's illegal when it's real, and it's a scam when it's not.

The message looks like this

Example of a pre-launch insider investment scam message

Why this is a scam

Real insider access isn't handed to strangers in DMs; when it happens at all, it's a crime called insider trading. What you're actually being offered is an "allocation link" to a wallet the scammer controls.

The token, the listing price, and the dev contact are set dressing. Money sent to a presale link doesn't buy anything; it simply arrives in someone else's wallet, and the "listing day" never comes.

Red flags checklist

  • A stranger offering insider or pre-public access to anything.

  • Guaranteed listing prices: "locks at $0.02, lists at $0.30".

  • Payment via crypto transfer to a link or wallet address.

  • "Not financial advice" pasted next to financial promises.

  • First come, first served pressure on remaining "allocations".

The manipulation tactic

Greed dressed as privilege. The pitch makes you feel smarter than the public, and people rarely fact-check a story that flatters them.

What to do, and what not to do

  • Don't click allocation or presale links from strangers.

  • Never send crypto to buy "pre-launch" anything.

  • Remember: genuine insider deals are crimes, not favors.

  • Report the account; these scams run in waves before every hyped launch.

  • If you already sent crypto, document everything and report it to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
