How Safe Numbers works

Where every number comes from, how we keep it current, and how a number gets listed as a scam. Written so you can check our work.

Last updated 29 October 2026.

1. SOURCE

Only from the company itself

Every number comes from the company's own website, and we link to the exact page. Never from search results, forums or other directories.

2. CHECKED

Re-checked every day

Each day we compare every number with the company's page. If anything changes, the number comes off the page until a person has confirmed it.

3. REPORTED

Fake numbers, from real checks

When people check a suspicious message with Flggd, we see the numbers scammers use. A number is listed only after it turns up in at least 3 separate checks.

Official numbers

  • A person confirms every number against the company's own page before it goes live.
  • Each number shows its source page and the date it was last checked.
  • Every day an automated check reads each source page again. If the number is no longer there, we take it off.
  • Numbers are written into the page itself. Nothing is fetched from anywhere else when you open it.

Reported numbers

  • They come from scam messages people check with Flggd.
  • A number is listed only after it turns up in at least 3 separate checks. The same message checked twice counts once.
  • We never list a number that matches a company's official number. Scammers fake real numbers, so a real number is never labelled a scam.
  • We never show anything about who checked the message.
  • A number we haven't seen for 180 days comes off the list.

Corrections

If your business's number appears as reported, ask us to review it. A request alone doesn't take a number down, because scammers ask too. We remove it when the number is published on your business's own website and the request comes from your business's email domain.
