Apple support: the real number
APPLE SUPPORT · US
1-800-275-2273
Verified 31 July 2026
Apple never contacts you first about a problem with your device. If a popup, call or text sent you looking for this number, that message was the scam.
REAL APPLE
- Never asks for your passcode or two-factor code over the phone
- Will not demand immediate payment via gift cards or crypto
- Does not use generic external links like 'bit.ly' to fix account issues
- Accepts calls you initiate to their verified 800-number
- Does not display red full-screen 'security alerts' on your browser
THE SCAM
- Tells you your iCloud or device is 'locked' or 'compromised'
- Asks you to download remote-access apps like AnyDesk or TeamViewer
- Sends you to a website that isn't apple.com to 'validate identity'
- Requires you to stay on the line while you move or protect money
- Caller ID may say 'Apple Inc' but it is fake/spoofed
This is what the fake warning looks like
⚠️ SECURITY ALERT
Your system is infected with 3 viruses. Private data is at risk. Contact Apple Support immediately: 1-888-000-0000
Illustration of a fake popup
- Browser popups that make sounds or won't close are always scams.
- Real security warnings will never include a phone number to call.
- Check the address bar; if it isn't apple.com, it is a fraud.
- Apple does not scan for 'viruses' on websites.
